You might also want to read How I Know Barack Obama Is NOT The Antichrist!
As I was doing my Update Scotland this morning I come across Ed Pilkington’s article and video in the Guardian 666 Reasons not to vote Obama and as many UK readers who wrote comments I was sad to see how the Bible could be used to condition people in thinking the unthinkable.
Then I received an email with the capitation ‘A Christian Analysis” via a Romanian baptist e-group based in the USA (a few thousands strong) with a vitriolic attack on Obama and his running mate, based on fiction but containing scriptures connotations, basically saying ‘Tell me with whom you vote and I will tell you who you are”. The article is in Romanian and written for the Romanian speaking voters in the USA.
A few days back I brought to the attention of the e-group moderator an article by Jim Wallis, My Personal Priorities for this Elections, which I found very inspiring, challenging and non-judgemental. He chose not to forward the message, and when I saw that he forwarded the ‘vitriolic’ one instead, and as a Christian analysis (sic), I wrote to him to ask him why he made that choice. His answer was that Jim’s article was a “shallow populist liberalism, a kind of social gospel akin to socialism” (?? sic), in contrast with this solid conservative Christian “analysis”!
One could be deeply sadden by the way the right wing Americans are using the Scriptures, Christian vocabulary and faith talk to achieve political power.
I would have not written this post if my friend James would have not pointed out that his blog is being bombarded with searches about “Obama Revelation 13”, and many of them coming via UK search engines. He has written a brilliant post which you should read, including the comments, I may say.
I am now expecting extra hits with this post.
