The International Society for Science and Religion (ISSR) recently released a statement saying that the concept of Intelligent Design is “neither sound science nor good theology”. The members of the group recognise that scientific explanation is limited but this does not mean that in the future these limitations might be overcome. But to seek to explain these complexities by offering ‘divine intervention’ is not just bad science but ‘a science stopper’.
The ISSR are also suspicious of the methodology of the Intelligent Design theorists, as they have not yet opened up any research program, nor produced any evidence of ‘irreducibly complexities’ in biological ‘evolution’ that cannot be explained by scientific methodology.
The ISSR is made up of leading scientists and theologians, with the main purpose of facilitating dialogue between theology and religion in particular addressing the current issues and debates.
Some wonder when will the bible bashers learn some humility?
